The China Cabinet – Old World Charm, Organized to WOW
Old homes are so often filled with hands on craftsmanship that is sometimes harder to find in today’s modern homes. My experience in designing spaces for vintage homes led to my attraction of the China Cabinet in the Dining Room of the 2011 Treasure Chest – The Organizational Home. My goal for this space was to craft a custom organized space that appeared to have been there from the first day of construction. A piece that defined this space as a family gathering place and provided extremely well thought out functional space to accommodate all types of pieces stored here. As I stood in the Organizational Home for the first time, I knew exactly how this piece should look, and how it should service the family living there.
I wanted something simple yet striking, so I created ‘step backs’ – different depths between the top and the bottom, and added a dynamic design feature with the posts. The glass doors, shelves and mirrored back in the upper section, as well as the lights, will be the perfect setting to display treasured dishes, glassware, serving pieces, or any loved family treasure. Functionality was key in this design as well. The drawers are of varying heights and will accommodate anything necessary to enhance a beautiful dining experience.
The China Cabinet had to be “a part of the house.” I did not want it to appear an afterthought, store bought piece thus it was designed to integrate smoothly within the space.
When you visit the 2011 Treasure Chest – The Organizational Home stop and take a few moments in the Dining Room planning your most favorite holiday gathering. Enjoy.
